It is most definitely dance which will be honoured at the Théâtre de l’Octogone in Pully at the beginning of the month of June 2007 as the Fondation pour l’Amour de la Danse - who’s aim it is to support young dancers, to boost the creation of choreographies and to favour artistic complicities in Switzerland and around the world- takes its first steps!!!

If there exists a style of dance which is particularly generous and liberated from all imposed contemporary conventions as well as a perfect reflection of the image which this new foundation wishes to put forth, then it is the creations of Swiss choreographer Etienne Frey; artistic director of these two Gala evenings which will celebrate the launch of the Foundation on June 1st and 2nd.

Winner of the Nijinsky Prize in 2001 and 2007, of the Serge Lifar Prize and of the Prize of the Audience, Press and Gold Medallist at the Alicia Alonso Competition amongst others. His « Bayadère » for the Ballet de Genève and « Zorba » in Zurich are fondly remembered as well as « Underground », « Harold and Maude », « Cinq pingouins sur un iceberg » and all the other wonderful ballets which this man, who crazy for dance, created for Sinopia, the company which he co-founded and with which he travelled the world for over 17 years.

In order to celebrate this upcoming event he has united a stream of unique and exceptional dancers; English soloist of the Ballets de Genève Lucy Nightingale, Yvette Regueiro, leading dancer of the Cuban National Ballet, Australian dancer Alexandra Carey, Brazilian beauty Ramon Moraes, Wout Geers from the Netherlands, Rogelio Landa soloist of the Ballet Theatre of Mexico, Geneva dancer and cellist Anne-Violaine Pécoud and Liset Regueiro, Marina Ritz and Anouchka Studeman.

For the occasion of this delightful evening, the musical duo JAEL will perform live and poetically guide and envelope the choreographies in a musical universe that seems made to measure. Coline Pellaton and Thierry Châtelain and will magically use voice, violin and accordion to accompany the dance creations…and visa versa.

Let’s bet that this fine team of stars, of untypical virtuosos and surprising enchanters will sow their seeds, divinely celebrate dance and illuminate the Théâtre de l’Octogone with a thousand lights of joy.
